Bamboo is still used nowadays in construction work.
Bamboo stems are exceptionally resistant and lightweight (hollow stem), and can thus compete with steel which it can replace in scaffolding. It is also used as a basic material.
Even to-day famous architects like Simon Velez use it in contemporary construction (cf. “Grow your own house”, a book by Simon Velez.)

Objects
Bamboo is used to make a multitude of everyday objects. Over 12,000 different uses have been counted (cf. “The book of bamboo”, by David Farrelly).
It is suitable for basketwork and for making household containers : dishes, glasses and cooking utensils ; and also furniture. It can also be used for writing stands. It is widely used for making musical instruments. It can be used for everything !
