The Farm
It is difficult to date precisely this very old Cevenol construction, which appears in a late 15th century compoix* The unusual height of this 4-storey, U-shaped building saved it from destruction during Gardon flooding.
* In Southern France, the compoix was a sort of rudimentary land register which described, measured and evaluated every plot of land.
The oldest compoix were drawn up for towns.
The first ones to describe the rural landscape in non-urban zones date from the 14th century. They provide a considerable amount of information about the rural history of Languedoc.
