The Japanese garden and its azaleas
A Japanese garden is to be discovered opposite the Mazel greenhouses. Along the stony banks of the transparant stream grow these magnificent azaleas.
The azaleas. Eugene Mazel's floral treasure.
By hybridization and selecting just a few of the numerous natural species, such as Rhododendron molle, a Chinese and a Japanese azalea European horticulterers and particularly those from the region of Gand in Belgium created from 1820 onwards hundreds of varieties.
Eugène Mazel collected more than 200.
Next to the azalea's, the Magnolia stellata unfold their corolla shaped perfumed flowers from March to April.
